Getting Started
How does Lyrric detect my vocal range?
When you first open Lyrric, it guides you through a simple singing test. The app guides you through two phases: first sliding your voice downward to find your comfortable low note, then sliding upward to find your comfortable high note. This establishes your personalized range for all exercises.
Why does the app need microphone access?
Lyrric uses your microphone to detect the pitch of your voice in real time. This allows the app to show you whether you're hitting the target notes during exercises and calculate your accuracy score. Your voice is never recorded or stored—it's processed instantly and discarded.
Can I use Lyrric offline?
Yes! Lyrric works completely offline. All exercises, audio demonstrations, and piano sounds are stored locally on your device. No internet connection is required.
Using the App
What do the colors mean during exercises?
The pitch feedback uses three colors:
How is my score calculated?
Your session score is the percentage of time you spent on pitch (within ±50 cents of the target note) across all pitched exercises. Breathing exercises aren't scored since they don't involve singing pitches.
Is my voice recorded?
No. Your voice is processed in real time for pitch detection only. Audio data is analyzed instantly in your device's memory and immediately discarded. Nothing is saved or transmitted anywhere.
How do I change session duration?
From the home screen, drag the circular dial to select your session duration (anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes). Your preference is saved for future sessions.
Troubleshooting
Microphone not working
- Check that Lyrric has microphone permission in iPhone Settings > Lyrric > Microphone
- Make sure no other app is using the microphone
- Try closing and reopening Lyrric
- Restart your iPhone if the issue persists
Pitch detection seems inaccurate
- Reduce background noise - Find a quieter environment for best results
- Use wired headphones or speaker - Bluetooth audio can introduce latency
- Sing at a comfortable volume - Very quiet singing may not be detected reliably
- Check your microphone - Ensure nothing is covering your iPhone's microphone
App won't start a session
- Make sure microphone permission is granted
- Check that you have completed the initial range detection during onboarding
- Try force-closing the app and reopening it
- Restart your iPhone if the problem continues
